Connecting rooms can give a family shared access and separate sleeping spaces, while a suite may offer a living area under one booking. Two separate rooms can work well for independent adults. The best choice depends on the actual layout and what the hotel will guarantee.
A booking labelled suitable for five guests does not tell you how those guests will sleep. Nor does a request for nearby rooms guarantee an internal connecting door. For December Umrah, establish those details before comparing prices.
Compare the layout before the room name
Ask for the floor plan or a written description of the exact room category. Confirm the number of bedrooms, permanent beds and bathrooms. A sofa bed in the living area changes both daytime space and privacy. Photographs of a different suite are not proof of your booked layout.

Hotels may use room descriptions differently. Ask whether “adjoining” means next door, nearby or connected internally. Put the answer in the booking confirmation rather than relying on a phone conversation.
Think through an ordinary evening
Suppose a toddler sleeps early while grandparents prefer to read or talk. One open sleeping area could force everyone onto the same routine. Two bedrooms may be more useful than a larger lounge. If two people need the bathroom frequently, a second bathroom could matter more than floor area.
Now consider supervision. Can an adult reach the child without entering a public corridor? Can a grandparent call for help easily? Can everyone exit safely? Do not improvise by leaving room doors unsecured. Choose a layout that supports the assistance your family actually needs.

Price the complete arrangement
Compare the total for the full stay, including required extra beds, breakfast for each guest and any child charges. A suite advertised for two adults may have a different price when the actual family is entered. Confirm occupancy in writing even when a booking site accepts the reservation.
For an illustration, a suite costing CAD 120 more per night over eight nights adds CAD 960. Divide that by the number of people benefiting, but also ask what it replaces. If the suite has only one bathroom and no enclosed second bedroom, the extra space may not solve your problem.
Hilton's official Makkah convention hotel page lists confirmed connecting rooms as an available feature. That makes it a useful property to ask about, but it does not confirm availability for your dates or inclusion in a particular group allocation. Request confirmation for the exact booking.
When the requested layout is unavailable
Agree on an acceptable fallback before payment. That might be two rooms on the same floor, a different room category or another hotel. Find out whether a room request can fail without a refund. A room guarantee and a request should never be priced as though they provide equal certainty.
Are connecting rooms always better? No. Independent adults may prefer separate rooms, and the guaranteed suite could be easier than an unconfirmed connecting request.
Can we add another person later? Only after the hotel confirms occupancy, bedding and charges. Do not assume a spare sofa counts as an approved bed.
